Proper timing is essential to ensure you are mentally and physically ready. Rushing into the Richmond ICBC lot at the last minute is a common cause of early-test nerves.
While ICBC officially requires you to be inside the center 15 minutes before your appointment, we suggest you target arriving at the road test center 30 minutes before your scheduled time.
Why 30 minutes? This allows for lineup times inside the Lansdowne ICBC center, a washroom break, and adequate buffer to be mentally and physically ready.
Parking Etiquette: Your car should be parked backward (reverse stall park) in the designated ICBC road test parking lot. Please do not arrive more than 45 minutes early, as you may occupy a stall needed by an examinee in the previous timeslot.
When you enter the center, you must bring two pieces of valid ID, including your current driver’s license.

The examiner cannot start the driving part of the test with you if your vehicle is unsafe or does not meet ICBC standards. Before you arrive, ensure:
Function: Headlights, brake lights, signal lights, and horn must be working normally.
Windshield: No cracks in the driver's line of sight.

We ensure your driving skills are ready over several lessons before focusing on exam-specific marking details. We go through the details of the exam logistics—including exactly where to park and what to expect at the counter—during the later stage of our driving curriculum as you approach your road test day. This ensures you have the skills ready first before focusing on the final test day "Mental Script."
